These tanks had a number of expensive features that were removed from the later prototypes to save on costs, including a remote-controlled M2 Browning, a semi-autoloader, and two reverse gears. The first proper prototypes were the STB-1, finished June 1969, and the STB-2, finished a month and a half later. Later, it had the 105mm L7 gun mounted in the superstructure. For more information on the STT, it already has a suggestion here. The first prototype of the Type 74 wasn't the STB-1, but rather the STT, which was completed in 1966 and was more of a testbed for the newly-developed hydro-pneumatic suspension, and later the 10ZF engine and 105mm L7 gun.

The STB-1 should also have the laser ranger and driver night vision (but not gunner night vision), but as of 1.95 does not have them.ĭevelopment of the Type 74 started around 1964, as the Type 61 was already considered to be outdated at the time. Note that this vehicle also used a laser rangefinder and infrared night vision for its gunner and driver. Also since it's preserved at the JGSDF Camp Maegawara (前川原駐屯地 ) , making an accurate visual model for it should be fairly easy. The main reason I'm suggesting this tank is to provide a back-up for the STB-1, whether as a premium or a foldered tank. Gameplay-wise, it will be mostly identical to the STB-1, with the exception of the dozer blade mounted in the front among other minor differences. This suggestion is for the STB-4, one of the prototypes of the Type 74.
